Leo’s Story

leos-story

Leo’s music career started at the age of 13. As he grew more into the music business he met other musicians. Cornell Blakely from Motown Records started a Band Leo as the Drummer Jesse Boyce on Piano, and Moses Dillard on Guitar. We played throughout TN, and Ga. We wanted more… That’s when we three sat down and formed our first serious band together. The Dynamic Showmen.

We moved to Pensacola FL to work with Papa Don Schroder of Atlantic Records. Added Clayton Ivey from Muscle Shoals AL. To the Production team.
Some of the acts: The Swinging Medallions, The Showman, Oscar Tony Jr., Mighty Sam, James and Bobby Purify, and Peggy Scott & Jo Jo Benson.

Bill Wilson and Peabo Bryson were added to the group as we toured with the USO World Wide.

Moved to Chicago to work with Curtis Mayfield’s Production then on to Atlanta with the Bill Lowery Group, then to Kentel Studios and had our first small hit Single (Got to find a way to hide my hurt) With Peabo Bryson and Bill Wilson.

Leo played on shows with such groups as: Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes( Teddy Pendergrass), Delfonics, Joe Tex, Chi-Lites, Clifford Curry, Staple Singers, Jerry Butler, Melba Moore, Chuck Jackson, Eddie Floyd, Spider Turner, and many, many more…

We Signed with Bang Records in Atlanta, that’s when Peabo came to life. We all went our separate ways I started a group call Kudos worked with Paul Kelly released one Single called Night Stalker. Moved on and started the group Point Of View, two small hits, and entertained troops for the Air Force Club System World Wide… Moved on to present… Carolina Beach Boyz…

Leo Adams: Founder, Manager, Drummer, and Vocals: Many years of experience in stage performing, managing bands, studio engineering and productions

Larry Ligon: Lead Vocals and Bass Guitar: Many years of live and studio performing singing his heart out.

Nathan Sligh: Guitar and Vocals: Many years of live and studio performing

Leo, Nathan, and Larry are original members of Carolina Beach Boyz and are friends of 15 years. Together this combination totally dominates every room they play.
One thing that separates this Carolina Beach Boyz from other bands is its play list. EVERY song performed in EVERY set is a favorite! Unfamiliar music can and will turn off a crowd regardless of how well it’s played. It therefore stands to reason that C.B.B. only plays the hits.
